Rug Size Guide: Get the Dimensions Just Right

Choosing the wrong rug size can throw off your whole space. At RUGIN, we’ve seen it all—and we’re here to help you get it right the first time. Use this guide to match rug size with room layout and furniture placement.

📐 Living Room

  • Large (9x12 ft): All furniture fits on top

  • Medium (8x10 ft): Front legs on rug

  • Small (5x8 ft): Coffee table only

💡 Leave 12-18 inches between rug edge and wall for balance.

🛏 Bedroom

  • Queen Bed: 8x10 ft (under bottom 2/3 of bed)

  • King Bed: 9x12 ft

  • Smaller spaces: Use two runners on each side

🍽 Dining Room

  • Table for 4: 6x9 ft

  • Table for 6-8: 8x10 ft or larger
    ✅ Chairs should stay on the rug when pulled out.

🚪 Entryway & Hallways

  • Use 2x6 to 2x10 ft runners

  • Should fill but not overwhelm the space
    ✅ Leave breathing room around the edges.
